Tethered or Untethered? What's the difference?
A Tethered charge point is a charge point that has a cable coming from the charge point with a plug that plugs directly into the car.
An Untethered charge point is a charge point that has a Type 2 socket in which you plug your own cable in, which is usually supplied with the car.
There's pros and cons to both. A few examples are;
Tethered is more convenient as you don't need to get the cable from your car each time you want to charge.
Untethered is often more visually appealing as it doesn't have a long cable attached to it, the Andersen charge point has a unique way of dealing with this.
It's easier to replace a cable due to damage if the unit is Untethered.
